The Portal Landing Page
The Landing page of the TABS Insight Portal features a set of tiles that display all the Apps available in your portal. The App content of the landing page depends on the services included in your subscription. The basic Apps are Power BI, Tableau, and Files.
- Power BI and Tableau Apps contain reports that you've subscribed to receive.
- The Files App is a repository files are stored for end-users to download. Most files stored in this repository are Excel files, but any file type can be stored in this location.
- Custom Apps are combinations of reports you select from your from Power BI and/or Tableau Apps. These grouped reports ensure that the right people have access to the specific reports they need. We can even apply specific permission to the Custom Apps so that you can manage access as well. If you're interested in learning more about what you can do with Custom Apps, reach out to your account manager or the support team to discuss options.
- Site Messages: Site messages help keep your end-users updated with the most current information. You can call out new reports, refresh dates, or even instructions on how to use a report or group of reports.
- Navigation Bar allows you to move quickly between open Apps.
Power BI & Tableau Report Apps
Reports within the Power BI, Tableau Apps or Custom Apps can be viewed as tiles or in a list view.
Tile View
The Tile report view displays reports in tiered sections: Featured, Recently Viewed, and All Reports.
- Featured reports were chosen to be highlighted and will always appear on the top row.
- Recently viewed reports appear below the Featured reports. You can clear recents using the clear icon
- All Reports appear at the bottom of the screen and contain the full list of available reports.
List View
List view shows all the reports in alphanumeric order without the the tiered sections Tiles has. You can toggle between list and tile view by using toggle switch in the top right side of the browser window.
Custom Apps
Custom Apps enable workflow-specific report organization; you’re no longer tied to what folder or workspace a report is stored in. We can work with your team to understand how you would like to group your content and set up Custom Apps to match your workflows. A report can be added to as many Apps as you like and Apps can contain both Tableau and Power BI reports. Custom Apps can be
configured with an interactive carousel of thumbnails, enabling users to
quickly explore the content of the App from the portal landing page. Contact support or your account manager for more information.
Navigation Bar
The Navigation Bar displays open Apps. Clicking on the App name
in the Navigation Bar reveals the full list of reports (and folders of reports)
contained by that App.
A secondary breadcrumb menu indicates the
folders and reports that have been opened within an App allowing you to
quickly switch between open reports.
